Amazing table tennis baby a smash hit/嬰兒打桌球影片爆紅 二月 04

A table tennis-playing baby has become a smashing success on YouTube after wowing viewers with ping pong skills way ahead of his young years.

Appearing in a video named ‘Jamie playing multiball’, wonderkid Jamie returns shot after shot while perched on the left hand side of the table.

He calmly swats the balls back at his dad and trainer, pausing only to regain his Zen-like composure.

On 44 seconds he displays a wholly unconventional backhand before gleefully launching into a series of powerful smashes aimed straight at his dad.

In fact so efficient is Jamie in his Forrest Gump-esque whiff waff skills that his dad has to refill the box of table tennis balls halfway through.

While most of the praise online has understandably been reserved for Jamie, one commenter on YouTube remarked on his father, saying ‘that is an awesome dad’.

Jamie’s dad may have his work out however in coaching him to greatness, however; since table tennis became an Olympic sport in 1988 Chinese athletes have dominated, winning 20 out of 24 gold medals available. (Metro)

Backwards-talking girl/ 3秒倒唸英文 美少女網路爆紅 二月 01

This young girl has become a YouTube sensation – by saying words the wrong way round.

Talented Alyssa grins shyly as her pal explains: "Anyone can say a word to her, and she can say it backwards within three seconds."

As her friends give her words like "Chevrolet," "fireworks," and "download" she effortlessly repeats them – but pronounces them from back to front.

So "gallon" is "nollag" and "corn nuts" is "stun nroc".

And while she takes a moment to turn "Lamborghini" into "Inihgrobmal" she’s soon back on form.

Amazingly, she reverses "kaleidoscope" to "epocsodielak" and "mayonnaise" to "esiannoyam" with barely a pause.

And even "Panama City Beach" is no problem for her, as she instantly replies: "Hcaeb ytic amanap". (wrapup)

After watching her latest video internet users commented: ‘Holy guitar prodigy batman! Outstanding! Eddie Van Halen has nothing on you!’

School leader performs headstands across the globe to raise money for charity/英中學校長走遍全球 倒立為慈善募款 一月 19
  • Jon Smallwood has pulled off more than 5,000 blood-rushing stunts
  • Took up fundraising drive after suffering leukaemia three years ago

School leader Jon Smallwood brings a whole new meaning to the word head teacher – after performing more than 5,000 headstands around the world.

The 54-year-old deputy head has been pulling off the stunts to raise money for cancer charities after battling leukaemia three years ago.

He became hooked on headstands as a youngster and travels the globe performing his party trick in strange locations.

Over the past year, he has performed a headstand on a 30ft-high rock, the Orient Express and the Leaning Tower of Pisa – where he balanced at a matching angle.

The ‘Headstand King’, as he calls himself, has also performed the blood-rushing pose on the roof of his school, on a plane over Syria and on the checkout of a busy supermarket.

Jon, who works at Bredon School in Bushley, Gloucestershire, said: ‘I’ve always loved doing handstands and after recovering from leukaemia I decided I would put it to good use.

‘I decided I would only do a headstand if it is for money, which I will donate to charity.

‘Amazingly, people started daring me to pull headstands in stupid places with one person paying me £30 to do a headstand on a conveyor belt in a supermarket.’

Jon, of Dursley, Glos, normally performs headstands for fun and often stands on his head up to 50 times a day.

But he admits his 78-year-old mother told him off when he recently performed a headstand on the roof of his school.

The brave teacher, who was off work for five months with leukaemia, has now raised more than £2,000 for charity.

He plans to abseil down the front of Southampton Hospital in February before ending the stunt.

After that, he hopes to take pupils from Bredon School on a ten-mile walk across the Malvern Hills, where they’ll do ten headstands per mile.

He added: ‘All the kids at school know that I’ve had an illness. I try to show them that you don’t necessarily die from cancer.’ (Daily Mail)

Latest computer whizzkid aged eight (who built his first website when he was FIVE)/ 8歲電腦神童 5歲就會架網站 一月 16

He’s the computer whizzkid who is giving Bill Gates a run for his money – despite being just eight.

But age is just a number to brainy Jay Williams, from Erdington, Birmingham, who is fast gaining a reputation as the master fix-it for computer-related problems.

From helping his neighbours get to grips with the internet, to coming to the rescue when the computers crashed at school, Jay is proving to be a tiny troubleshooter.

He was using a computer by the age of two, and was five when he built his first website.

Aged just seven Jay became one of the youngest people ever to complete a globally-recognised IT qualification, after mum Sarah struggled to find a computer club to keep up with her son’s burgeoning talents.

Proud Sarah, 36, said: ‘Jay’s very bright but he’s a lovely boy too.

‘As soon as he could sit up he was up at the computer, and by the time he was two he could find his way around one.

‘He started off playing games on the CBeebies website, but that soon wasn’t enough and he wanted to figure out how to turn the computer on, shut it down and do things for himself.’

Freelance travel agent Sarah quickly spotted her son’s potential and set about finding a computer club to sign her son up to, but to no avail. It was while doing some research on the internet that mother and son came across a website for the European Computer Driving Licence, a set of seven exams covering word processing, spreadsheets and presentations.

Jay, a pupil at New Oscott School in Sutton Coldfield, tried out some sample questions and it became clear he had the potential to pass the real thing.

Sarah added: ‘I couldn’t believe that, in a city as big as Birmingham, there wasn’t a club he could join.

‘After he took the sample test, I started to see if anyone would let him sit the exams for real but it was very hard to convince people to let him do it because of how young he was.

‘He did the first exam when he was six, and had done all seven by the time he was seven, so I am so proud of him.’

Mother and son’s persistence has paid off, and Jay is now a one-boy helpline, answering queries from friends and neighbours with email and internet woes.

Sarah said he even came to the rescue when the computers went down during a lesson at school.

Jay has now been rewarded for his efforts after being highly commended by the BT Internet Rangers of the Year award, which rewards youngsters who are helping to bridge the digital divide between generations in their local communities.

Simon Paul, BT community investment manager, said: ‘The internet provides a gateway to so many positive things and it is fantastic to see the commitment the younger generation has by showing others how to get online.

‘Congratulations to Jay – his award is richly deserved.’ (Daily Mail)

Please admit the barer of this passport: I.D. tattoed on back/英男將護照紋在背部 一月 15

Proud Brit Richard Ashton never forgets his passport — it’s inked on his back.

The keen traveller has even used his wacky tattoo as ID to withdraw cash from a bank.

Richard, 27, who had the tat of his old passport done while backpacking in Australia in March 2006, said: "I wanted something to remember my holiday by, but also wanted something patriotic.

"My girlfriend at the time thought I was a bit daft, but eventually she found it hilarious. That seems to be the general reaction."

Richard, a personal trainer from Wandsworth, South West London, ran out of cash on his Oz trip. So he whipped his top off in a bank branch and used the tattoo as ID.

He said: "The cashier gave me a strange look. She typed in my name and details after reading my tattoo and allowed me $50."

But in London, Richard — who was born in Sydney and has dual British—Oz nationality — keeps his tattoo covered up. He said: "I don’t walk around with my top off."

Passport officials said he couldn’t use his tattoo to go abroad or enter the UK. (The Sun)

Woman with TWO vaginas lost virginity TWICE/女子有雙陰道 須「破處2次」 一月 13

A woman told how a one-in-a-million medical condition led to her being born with TWO fully-formed vaginas.

Hazel Jones, 27, said it means she has lost her virginity TWICE.

But she added she was so at ease with her body that she goes to sex clubs with her husband.

First, Hazel told ITV1′s This Morning hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield she was 18 before being diagnosed with uterus didelphys.

It occurs when a barrier between two tubes that form the uterus fails to break down during development, leaving two internal channels.

Hazel, of High Wycombe, Bucks, did not realise she was different until her periods started at 14. She said: "I told friends. They looked even more confused than me."

She went to hospital four years later to learn the truth. She added: "I thought it was amazing."

Hazel told The Sun she and hubby Riki visited fetish clubs, explaining: "It shows how relaxed I am.

"My quirky condition does not make me shy or hold me back. In fact, it’s something I celebrate." (The Sun)

Couple renew their marriage vows – after husband changes sex/老公變性 夫妻重新舉行婚禮 一月 09

Like many devoted couples, Barry and Anne Watson wanted to renew their marriage vows.

But nine years on from their wedding, there was one major difference – this time, Anne was marrying a woman called Jayne.

When Anne first found out that her husband Barry, a former bus driver wanted a sex change she was furious. The couple had been suffering problems in their marriage with Anne thinking that Barry had been cheating on her with another woman.

‘Anne came to accept me for who I wanted to be and love me as a woman’, Barry, who has now changed his name to Jayne by deed poll, told the Sunday Mirror.

‘Renewing our marriage vows was the perfect way to show how happy we are with our new lives.’

Anne, 53 admitted that she had ‘grieved for the loss of Barry’, but she added: ‘There were sides to Jayne that I enjoyed getting to know – we can now have a laugh and talk about hair, clothes and make-up.’

Anne decided to go ahead with the second ceremony, proving to Jayne and to the world that she accepts her new spouse for who she is.

‘To me, our second wedding was much more special than our first as I knew Jayne was finally comfortable with who she was,’ she said. (Daily Mail)

The girl with the dancing eyebrows/眉毛會跳舞的少女 十二月 31

She certainly has never had a Botox injection.

In fact, a girl whose video is trending on YouTube has incredible control over her facial features – and in particular, her eyebrows.

Though unsuspecting at first, the cute girl shows quite the unusual talent as she causes her eyebrows to dance and spasm in rhythm.

The girl starts out with a shy smile to the camera, and an awkward grimace as she waits for the music to start.

What follows is a bizarre, hilarious, and slightly disturbing use of one’s facial muscles.

The video, uploaded to Youtube by user Theinternetisaweird calls it a girl’s ‘funny talent.’

Her identity – and the backstory as to how she learned such a talent – are unknown.

As the music starts, the girl coyly glances off to one side and dramatically raises one eyebrow.

Then, it’s onto the other side.

She does every arch in tempo and on point.

But the most impressive part of this video – which is fast becoming an internet sensation with more than two million hits – is when the girl begins doing what can only be called the Worm, but with her eyebrows.

One side starts the motion, and then the movement ripples to the other side, and then back again – still in tempo with the music.

Once the show is done, the girl returns to smiling at the camera, no doubt proud of her unusual and mesmerising talent. (Daily Mail)

Great-gran still works full-time at 94 and has no plans to retire/94歲阿嬤仍全職工作 十二月 26

Sprightly Ada Hostler is thought to be the oldest female employee in the UK – still working full-time at the ripe old age of 94.

The great-grandmother has stunned family and friends by insisting she wants to continue putting in a 45-hour week despite breaking her hip last year.

She has been an administrator for Portsmouth-based Storytime Nursery, run by her daughter Janet Storey, 63, for 19 years.

She works from 8am until 6pm five days of the week and has no plans to retire – ignoring doctors’ advice to quit following her injury.

Mrs Hostler, from Portsmouth, Hants, lives by the motto ‘you’re a long time dead’ and even says she’s irritated by weekends – because she wants to work.

She added: ‘I never thought I would still be working in my 90s, I take one day at a time.

‘But I don’t ever want to stop. I get cross when it’s the weekend because I want to go back to work.

‘Doing all the figures helps keep my brain active and makes me feel younger.

‘It’s the children that keep me going. I love being around them. They are great company.’

Just last year Ada broke her hip and doctors said she would have to give up work as she would struggle to get around.

But within months she was up and walking again, with the help of a frame.

Widowed Mrs Hostler added: ‘I want to make the most out of life. You are dead a long time and don’t have much time to live in comparison.

‘I want to make sure that I enjoy all the time I have left.’ (Mail Online)
